Nissan Rogue Maintenance Schedule (by Mileage)

To keep your Nissan Rogue running smoothly for years to come, it’s important to stick to the maintenance schedule recommended by Nissan.

These routine checks and services are designed to keep your vehicle in top condition. The only downside is that finding the full schedule in the owner’s manual is not always convenient.

That’s why I’ve listed the complete maintenance schedule for your Nissan Rogue right here. You’ll know exactly what needs to be done and when, without having to search through the manual.

Standard Vs Severe Conditions

Nissan provides two maintenance schedules based on your driving environment and habits.

Certain conditions require more frequent or specialized maintenance. For example, driving in mountainous areas with steep climbs and descents puts more strain on your vehicle compared to typical city driving.

Nissan refers to this as “Severe Operating Conditions.”

Here are some examples of driving situations that fall under severe operating conditions and may require extra attention:

  • Frequent short trips: Less than 5 miles (8 km) or Less than 10 miles (16 km) in freezing temperatures.
  • Stop-and-go driving: Operating in hot weather, like “rush hour” traffic.
  • Extended low-speed operation: This includes extensive idling or driving long distances at low speeds, common for police cars, taxis, or delivery vehicles.
  • Adverse road conditions: Driving in dusty, rough, muddy, or salt-spread environments.
  • Added strain: Using a car-top carrier, towing a trailer, or using a camper.

If you regularly drive your Nissan Rogue under any of these conditions, you should follow the severe use maintenance intervals listed in your maintenance schedule.

The maintenance schedules include both mileage and time intervals. For most drivers, mileage will be the main guide for when service is needed. However, if you drive infrequently and don’t rack up many miles, you should follow the time-based intervals to keep your vehicle properly maintained.

Your Nissan Rogue also comes with an oil control system that alerts you when it’s time to change the engine oil and oil filter. We’ll go into more detail on that later (jump to the oil control system section).

The maintenance schedule provided below applies to the latest Nissan Rogue models equipped with the KR15DDT engine. For older Rogue models with the PR25DD engine, the same schedule can be followed by adjusting the mileage interval to every 5,000 miles. The time interval remains unchanged at every 6 months.

Ongoing Maintenance

The Nissan Rogue’s maintenance schedule officially ends at 90,000 miles or 144 months. But that doesn’t mean your vehicle is done for.

Just because the schedule stops doesn’t mean your car is broken or needs to be replaced. In fact, it likely still has a lot of life left.

That’s why it’s important to continue with regular maintenance using the same mileage or time intervals (every 3,750 miles or six months) following the same maintenance items outlined in the schedule.

As your vehicle gets older, you might run into additional maintenance needs beyond what’s listed. When that happens, it’s a good idea to consult your dealer or a trusted local mechanic.

The bottom line? Even after the official maintenance schedule ends, continuing regular care will help keep your Nissan Rogue running smoothly for many more miles to come.

Oil Control System

The Nissan Rogue comes with an oil control system that helps you stay on top of oil changes. This system monitors your driving conditions and calculates when an oil change is needed.

It gives you an estimate of the right time to change your oil, which is especially helpful if you’re a bit forgetful—like I am.

I rarely pay attention to the mileage or remember the last time I changed the oil. But thanks to this feature, I don’t have to worry about missing it.

The oil control system gives me a heads-up when it’s time for an oil change or at least a reminder to check the oil condition in my Nissan Rogue.

As I mentioned earlier, the OCS (Oil Control System) calculates when you need an oil change based on your driving conditions. So, if you’re driving in more severe conditions, the system will let you know that it’s time for an oil change sooner than usual.

If the oil replacement indicator comes on, you should plan to change the engine oil within the next two weeks or less than 500 miles.

The Importance of Proper Vehicle Maintenance

Maintaining a vehicle might seem like a hassle, and yes, it does come with some extra costs. But there are plenty of good reasons why taking care of your Nissan Rogue is absolutely worth it:

  • Helps your vehicle last longer: Staying on top of maintenance keeps everything running smoothly, which means your Nissan Rogue can stay on the road for years to come.
  • Keeps it performing at its best: Fresh oil and fluids, clean filters, and timely inspections all help your vehicle perform like it should, smooth and reliable.
  • Improves overall safety: Regular maintenance ensures that critical safety systems like your brakes and tires are always in good shape, helping keep you and your family safe.
  • Reduces the risk of costly repairs: Catching small problems early can save you from big, expensive repairs later on. A quick fix now is better than a major headache later.
  • Maintains better resale value: A car with a solid maintenance history will always be worth more when it’s time to sell or trade in.
  • Can even boost fuel efficiency: When your engine runs efficiently and nothing is clogged or worn out, your car uses fuel more effectively, which saves you money at the pump.

At first, sticking to the Nissan Rogue’s maintenance schedule might seem like a hassle. But trust me—skipping regular maintenance can come back to bite you.

Sooner or later, you could end up dealing with bigger, more expensive repairs. It’s worth setting aside a little time now to keep your Rogue running smoothly and avoid headaches down the road.

Final WoRds

Following the recommended maintenance schedule for your Nissan Rogue is one of the best ways to make sure you enjoy your SUV for many years to come. Think of routine maintenance as a form of insurance—it gives you peace of mind and helps prevent costly problems down the road.

The Rogue isn’t a small investment, so it only makes sense to take good care of it. The maintenance schedule I’ve shared above should make it much easier to stay on top of what needs to be done and when.

At the end of the day, the time and money you spend on maintenance will pay off with a car that runs smoothly, stays reliable, and saves you from future headaches. It’s a smart investment.
