Hi Mr. McNamee,

Congrats on the new Rogue!

Taking Highway 7 is definitely your best bet. It naturally forces you to vary your speed since you’ll be slowing down and speeding up as you pass through different zones.

If you do end up taking Highway 401, just make sure to keep cruise control off and avoid staying at the exact same speed for too long. For example, you can cruise at 95 km/h for about 15 minutes, safely speed up to 105 km/h for a few minutes, and then drop down to 90 km/h when traffic allows.

As long as you keep mixing up your speed like that, you won't need to take extra breaks for the car's sake—just drive normally and pull over whenever you need a rest!

A question: Just bought a new 2026 Rogue (gas-powered). Just 46km on the odometer: still breaking-in. Am driving Ottawa to Toronto next week. Would normally take Highway 401 and drive at 100kph. Driving in that manner, how long or far should I go before making a rest-stop, or getting off the highway and taking a slower road for a stretch to give the car a rest?
Or should I plan to use Highway 7 instead of the 401?
